Ah! i'm loving Sentosa all over again! Haha. It's been ages since I actually went there. Well, apart from trips to my father's golf club for dinner (which btw, don't really count since the only place I see is the club itself).
So on wednesday, I went down to harbourfront station to meet Amanda, Beatrice and Danielle! I was late (sorry!) so when I got there, they had already bought snacks to munch on! I'm not sure whether it was deliberate or coincidental, but they bought chips, which, are of course, EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY! After all, the entire slice of potato is like fried at superhigh temperatures! Moreover, from
http://www.mercola.com/ , I have found out that potato chips contain disturbingly high levels of acrylamide, which by the way, is a cancer-causing chemical!! Oh the horror!
Worst still, every ounce of, for example, pringles, contains 25 micrograms of acrylamide! Which reminds me, does anyone apart from our team find that the shape of pringles are too PERFECT? They are so nicely shaped. No rough edges, no awkward shapes that a normal potato tends to have! In fact, to Danielle, it does not even taste like real potatoes! One has to admit, if it were real potatoes, then we would be wasting a whole lot of potatoes just to get that perfect shape from every potato (think sculpturing the potato before slicing it!) .
Therefore, this is what we concluded:
Besides acrylamide, there must be some other chemicals that help the potatoes get the full nice shape it has. This is because firstly, it is almost impossible for ever potato to grow in such a way naturally, and secondly, the potato does not taste normal. In this society, moreover, everything needs to be cost effective. Hence,we are pretty sure that the chemical used are similar, if not the same, to those used in genetically modified food. This means that the chemicals used could arose diseases and illness in us! And to think that there is already the cancer risk!
GM + deep fried + acrylamide = unhealthy + unhealthy + unhealthy = SUPER SUPER SUPER UNHEALTHY!!!!
Is this not a cause for concern? Almost everyday, people are munching on such unhealthy food!! I, for one, think that the cancer part is the most worrying. This is, of course, my personal opinion. But, then again, what I have said is true, is it not? Is it not a pity if you lose the right to live life on just because of one moment of guilty pleasure? Is it not stupid to trade your life for a packet of potato chips? Ok, so it may be crispy, with a tinge of salt and flavour, thus making it one of the most heavenly foods on this earth! Still, the effects far outway one moment of contenment...
I feel sick.
Shall throw away all my potato chips now! Maybe I can't bear to. But I will definitely throw away my canned chips! And yes, I shall throw it now.
